Wow.
When Sean and I decided to run this free family shoot contest, we both expected to read humorous and clever stories. What we didn't plan for was the heart wrenching and honest accounts submitted by so many very deserving readers. Seriously! Thats it!! No more contests... it's too haaaaaaarrrrrrd!
The thought of each one of you donating some of your day to enter your family or a friend with hopes that pretty pictures might brighten your/their world even just a little, melts my heart. Every time Sean noticed a new entry he would turn to me and say, "Honestly, how do we choose ONE recipient out of this bunch?". And I would look at him blankly and say, "I don't know, I guess we'll be doing free family shoots from here on out!".
I just want to express our sincere gratitude for all of the comments posted and emails sent to us in confidence. This contest did more for us than you I think. We are in love... with the love.
Alas, with much discussion and debate we have narrowed our tough decision down to one worthy receiver. Diana nominated her close friend Anne, who recently lost her mother to cancer at the young age of 56. Diana felt that an uplifting photo session and some sweet moments frozen in time would be a start to mending Anne's broken heart, and we do too.
We have also decided that contests should be offered more often on our blog. We love hearing from the fine folks who scroll through our pages, and if creating various contests initiates more comments from you we're happy to oblige. With that said, please feel free to leave any type of feedback, criticism, props, or even questions on past, present and future posts.
Congratulations Anne! Sean and I cannot wait to meet you and plan a custom family portrait session that is all your own.
"Wordy" posts are just not as appealing as photo posts, so here is a recent photo taken while driving with Sean on the Highway of Heros.
Thank you very much. When I called her this afternoon with the news at first she was touched by the fact that I put her name forward instead of my own new family. And then she was thrilled to learn that my entry for her was selected as the winner. I am very grateful to you and Sean.
