Best Friday ever!
Yesterday our schedules finally aligned. I bundled up and braced myself for the -17º weather beating I was about to endure, and drove north to Peterborough with Sean where my old friend Tia Star waited ,warm in her cozy house. There we met Rocco and Bella her adorable and talented cats, laughed about old times and talked business. As Tia stirred perogies in the sizzling frying pan, the three of us bantered back and forth sharing tips, plans and goals. It was so refreshing to have a productive conversation with someone who is also building a business. I left feeling re-energized and excited about where Sean and I are taking Lotus.
In July of 2009, Tia left her former career path in medical sales behind her and re-evaluated where her life was going. Always a fashion forward and artistic person, it's no surprise she took a leap of faith and plunged heart first into owning her own online clothing boutique. Yesterday as Tia and I were chatting, she mentioned that the most common misconception she is encountering with her biz is what people perceive it to be.
"Some people are assuming TiaStar.com is a wholesale clothing line when in actuality its an online boutique."
Much like consumers would walk into a BCBG or Aritzia store and purchase a dress, Tia's online store offers hand picked items from a variety of designers available with a more convenient method of shopping. I'm in love with her company and feel that many of my readers will be too.
"Style. Shop. Simple." is her tag line, and its a perfect defining cocktail of what the TiaStar.com experience is.
Tia's home is a renovated painter's studio. Exposed brick walls and 9 ft antique doors were only two of its many charms.
