PATRICK DORIE : GOODBYE EXPECTATIONS.

Can I please just say aloud, if for no one else but myself to hear, that I love the language between the camera and man.
I remember being in eighth grade and contributing to a school time capsule. Every class was responsible for determining what inanimate object could represent life as we knew it, to any future inhabitant. Amongst the music, movie posters, games and handwritten letters I recall thinking a single photo could've replaced all other tangible artifacts in one clean swoop. For me, photographs have always been a gateway to another place and time. I look into an image and know this is a mood, a feeling, a moment, an event captured that will never happen again. It's history. Even if the photo was taken yesterday. It's gone, and all that visually remains, is an exposure.

Patrick Dorie is simple and exceptional all at once. I adore him. I mean it. His laugh, his pout, his raised brow, his curly locks, his addiction to coffee, his sarcasm, his beautiful bones. To decorate his forthcoming debut full length album, we set out to capture some promo photos. Instead we ended up with a time capsule. Frame after frame of Patrick moments that are all his own. Its his authentic self, who he is in his life right here, right now.

There were hundreds of favourites to choose from, but I decided to post a few images that I am pretty sure he wont select to print within his album artwork.

This is Patrick. Someone I'm honoured to call my friend.

  4. I like the crotch shot and the last one with you laugh smiling in it and pulling down your t so your bum doesn't show.

  8. I love the top and bottom, and think you might be right -- I don't foresee smiling selections at the top of the list for album art, but am glad you put them here -- they are awesome! :)
