If you think you know her, you’re wrong. You’ll meet her and assume, “wow this is a nice, honest, fun girl. She must be a hardworking person to manage working full-time while attending school simultaneously.” Well, that’s all true, but there is more.
There's a girl inside her not everyone has really seen. A kindred girl who might go un-noticed to those satisfied with merely scratching the surface.
I’m thankful that this girl was revealed to me right from the start. Passionate, vulnerable, honest, reliable, loyal,
beautiful, complex and just the right amount of witty sarcasm to mold a real life true blue friend. Sometimes, when I’m feeling deep and contemplative I think about how many strangers will walk right past her on an ordinary city sidewalk and never experience the friendship she offers.
Brass, as I affectionately refer to her as, met with me a few days ago to take a handful of lifestyle type portraits. Although the August air was warm, the chilly blue lake was not, and she is a champ for tip toeing in waist deep in the name of photography.
To my Brass: you may not always think highly of yourself, but remember I do. And if ever you are stranded in a far away town, at 4am, without a cent to your name, with one shoe missing and gum in your hair... granted I’m not beside you... call me. I’ll bring you home.
Xo.
