BABY LUCAS.

"If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging."

~Diane Loomans

I imagined I would start this post with a witty quote, and as I hunted for something smart-ass and crass to suit my beautiful friend Adrienne's temperament, I realized it should be just the opposite. Although she can hold her own against the world and wouldn't sugar coat the truth even for a perfect stranger, Adrienne's heart is vast and deep. She is soft and feminine whether she admits it or not and values the character found in another.

This week I was lucky enough to be asked to capture Adrienne's first born child, Lucas. He arrived to Adrienne and her husband Peter a month earlier than expected and was the tiniest little peanut you ever did see! Seriously, if I wasn't reminding myself to be professional I would have tucked my camera gear away and cuddled his head off all night!

The world gets busy if you let it. Issues can seem more detrimental than they are, conflicts can separate friends and worries can drown a troubled mind. But being amidst brand spanking new parents and the connection they innately have for their two week old son, somehow quiets the noise and reminds you to let it be.

Let it be.

Baby Lucas...

  1. Hi Amanada & Sean,
I love the pictures for two reasons... First they are amazing and you did a wonderful job and second, I know Adrienne and Peter and I love how you captured them with Lucas, you can see the love and the feeling of family!

  2. I wanted to weep when I saw these pictures. The perfect little mouth, the family love comes right through when you see how content he looks. He will be able to look at these pictures in years to come and know how much he was loved.
    You captured it all!
    Love, your biggest fan xox
